Compare what an AI Assistant task changed with your project from before the task, then keep the result, continue editing, or undo selected files.
Review AI changes shows you exactly what an AI Assistant task changed in your project. Pinegrow records the project before the task and compares it with the result, so you can check the page before you decide what to keep.
Review AI changes is new in Pinegrow 10. It works in writable local projects in Pinegrow Desktop. It uses the same comparison tools as Visual change review and revisions.
Turn on review
- Open the AI Assistant panel.
- Click the Task options icon below the AI prompt.
- Click Review AI changes.

Pinegrow confirms that review is enabled, and the Task options icon is highlighted while an option is on. The setting applies to all projects. Click Review AI changes again to turn it off.
If the current project can't be reviewed, the item reads Review AI changes (unavailable). This happens when no project is open, when the project is open read-only, when you are previewing a revision, or when the project folder isn't writable.
What Pinegrow records
With review on, each AI task that can change your project gets a review:
- Before the task Pinegrow saves open documents and creates a project revision named Before AI task.
- After the task it creates an AI task result revision and compares the two.
Both revisions appear in the History panel, marked Before AI and AI result.
Saving is part of creating a revision. Any unsaved edits in open pages are written to disk when the task starts.
Review applies to tasks that edit the page or project. It is skipped for Just chatting (Chat) requests to regular models, which don't change files. Agent providers such as Codex and Claude Code are always reviewed, including Agent chat.
Check the result
When the task finishes, a review card appears in the AI Assistant conversation. It says how many files changed and offers Review changes, Keep editing and Keep changes.

If the task changed no files, no card is shown. If you stop the task or it ends with an error, Pinegrow still reviews whatever changed up to that point. If the assistant asks you a question, the review waits until you reply and the task finishes.
The review covers everything that changed in the project during the task, including edits you made yourself while the assistant was working.
The review window
Click Review changes to open the Review AI changes window.

- The file list on the left shows the changed files, with counts of added, modified and deleted files.
- The mode buttons switch between Review (step through changed elements on an HTML page), Code (source comparison) and Compare (the rendered page before and after, side by side).
- The change list in Review mode shows each added, changed, moved or removed element. Filter it by type, search it, or use the up and down arrows to step through the changes.
- The preview marks each change with a number. Switch it between Before AI task and After AI task.

Select a change to highlight it on the page and see its Before AI task and After AI task values. The B and A buttons next to a change preview that change alone before and after the task.

Look through all the changes, not only the ones you asked for. Assistants sometimes add elements, or invent details such as prices and ratings.
Decide what to keep
Keep the result
Click Keep changes in the review window or on the card. The card changes to Changes kept. Your next request in the same conversation starts a new review baseline.
If you start a new AI task while a review is still waiting for your decision, Pinegrow keeps the reviewed changes.
Continue editing
Click Keep editing to postpone the decision and send a follow-up request. The card notes that the review is postponed.

The next result is still compared with the project from before your first request. When you open Review changes again, it lists everything the assistant changed in this conversation. While the review is postponed, the card offers Review changes and Keep changes, and you can send more follow-ups against the same baseline.
Undo selected files
In the review window, all changed files are selected at first. Clear the files you want to keep, then click Undo 1 file… (the label shows the number of selected files) and confirm with Undo changes. Pinegrow creates a safety revision of the current project first, then returns the selected files to their Before AI task version.
To revert the complete task, keep all files selected and undo them.
If a selected file changed after the AI result was recorded, Pinegrow warns that undoing will overwrite the newer version. You can recover it from the safety revision in the History panel.
After an undo, the card confirms how many files were restored. Start a new AI task before you ask for more AI changes.
Restore individual changes
To undo only some changes inside a page, select a change in Review mode and click Restore. Pinegrow collects your choices and shows how many are pending. Click Apply restorations… to write them, or Discard to cancel them. Pinegrow saves open documents and creates a safety revision before it applies them. The review then continues with the remaining changes. Apply or discard pending restorations before you use Undo, Keep changes or Keep editing.
Limitations and messages
- The rendered preview runs with scripts disabled. External assets are not versioned by the review and may show the current files.
- Review mode works on HTML pages. Use Code for other files.
- Review is not available in Pinegrow Online in the browser, in read-only projects or in revision previews.
- AI edits made through external MCP clients also create Before external MCP edits and External MCP edit result revisions, but no review card. Compare them in the History panel. See MCP server and WebMCP.
- Review AI changes could not start appears when Pinegrow can't record the project before the task, for example when the project contains no files that can be reviewed. The task doesn't run.
- AI change review could not be created appears when Pinegrow can't record the result of the task. Click Retry review, Keep changes, or Restore whole task…. Restore whole task creates a safety revision and returns the whole project to its state before the task. Pinegrow warns you first if the project changed after the result.
- Finish or cancel the current reviewed AI task before starting another one appears when you start a new task while a reviewed task is still running.
